And you cannot have the same data set name on two different volumes in a catalog. The fact that you can specify the VOLUME for a LNKLST data set is purely a convenience to allow you not to have to put that data set into the master catalog, not to allow you to avoid putting it into the catalog LLA uses. I had glossed over the fact that the SETPROG LNKLST ADD had specified a VOLUME. Apologies.
