Chris,

It may not be "official" and it might not be in the manuals often, but
"USS" can be found frequently in the texts of APARs and PTFs.  

Here's a quote from OA18832, for example: 

"Any further hints regarding predicting and interpreting
the BPXBATCH return codes should be added to this DOC APAR while
it is open in order to make the doc as complete as possible.
Finally, all the information should be added to the USS Command
Reference manual."
