We use something other than XRC but come up warm in DR. Our configuration otherwise is just as you describe, Primary in the CF and Secondary on Mirrored DASD.
My contention is that the spool is not a data repository and should not be relied on to hold information. (If it is that critical then there should be a copy of the data elsewhere).
