Hmmm... must have been someone else Ed, because I joined IBM and SMP/E in 1987, four years after SMP/E went GA in 1983. At the time in 1987 we were developing SMP/E Release 5 (you remember, the release that required a conversion of VSAM CSI data sets to change the key length. I still occasionally hear about that one.).
I'm told end of support for SMP4 was in 1991.
