We are doing this next weekend :) I would like to ask the groups about dividing the CP to LP. We run 4 LPARS in monoplex mode. Our usual weighting is 850 for Production, 150 for development and 50 each for two sandboxes.
SRM says I have 115 Mips and/or 5612.0659SU/sec Cheryl says more like 104 Mips. Phil is a little more generous :) The new machine will have 66 Mips/CP 203 total (Cheryl) Phil and Cheryl agree at 28 Software MSU. I am planning for 8 logical shared processors. 3 shared available to production, 2 shared to development and one sandbox, and 1 in the other sandbox (last one does nothing but SMP/E) I know the 2.6 is a bit high a ratio, but I want to find multiprocessor problems well ahead of upgrades to production. z/OS 1.7 at RSU0705 with HCR7731. We are also getting 16G of memory, up from 8G. I explained the HAS was greedy on the z9. Current allocation is 4G to production, 3G to development, 250 to each sandbox and the rest to HAS with some left over. We are defining some spare lpars(*), but I need to figure how to best allocate the new memory with our four existing for now. Thanks for any help or advice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
