However the new model of distributed processing bypasses this concept. We have local von Neumann operating systems, within various bigger infrastructures. As we start to divorce applications from the computer's native OS, the idea that Apple has implemented of changing the hardware from underneath the applications will be more common. This might include non von Newmann architectures. And the logic that high end CPUs have of starting threads just in case will expand.
