The HP site that is referenced in the article suggests that the HP can do more I/O because it has 192 slots, compared to 84 slots on the z9 EC. But it doesn't mention that eash of those slots on the z9 can support 4 Ficon channels operating at 4 Gb/second, for a total of 336 channels. Or that a z9 has up 64 STI busses for connecting the I/O to memory, each of which can handle 2.7 GBytes/second.
