All, I found out what happened to my alias'in on of my catalogs when I upgraded from ZOS 1.4 to ZOS 1.7 - it was user error! I had to export this particular catalog and when I Imported it back, I did not specify the ALIAS keyword - so an empty catalog was loaded.
