Assuming that most catalogs is shared, you can only set BUFND, BUFNI, and STRNO as static values for the catalog through DEFINE or ALTER. By tuning at the ACB level, the AUTOTUNE feauture can dynamically implement settings that theoretically meet each system's needs.
