In an effort be proactive and hopefully avoid (1) some headache on your
part, and (2) unnecessary calls to IBM support, I am writing to let you
know about a planned outage this weekend for the IBM Automated Delivery
Request server infrastructure. More specifically, the backend server
that packages PTF orders is being upgraded and will be unavailable
during a planned outage from 23:00 MT on Saturday, August 4th, through
12:00 MT on Sunday, August 5th. This outage is an extension of the
regular weekend maintenance window.
This outage will affect processing for PTF orders submitted to IBM using
both SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval (RECEIVE ORDER command) and
ShopzSeries. Other PTF portals such as ServiceLink and TechSupport will
NOT be affected by this outage.
For SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER commands, during this outage various symptoms
are possible, but most likely you will be able to submit an order
request, however, it will not complete within a reasonable time. Thus,
RECEIVE ORDER will likely get the following message:
GIM69147W SMP/E WAITED 120 MINUTES BUT ORDER ORDnnnnn IS NOT READY FOR
DOWNLOAD...
Also, when the server comes back online, there may be a backlog of
orders to be processed, so you may experience long(er) than usual order
turnaround for a time after the outage.
Yes, I already know it would be nice if such outage info were posted to
a public website thus avoiding the need for this posting, and yes I know
it would be nice if the upgrade were implemented transparently, so no
need to tell me any of that. I am posting this information as a
courtesy, so please take it for what it is.
