in a newly-initialized volume, a newly-defined dataset will occupy space first; after which the VVDS is automatically created.
problem is, if the first dataset is removed, there will be a gap that may be hard to be filled.
creating VVDS first can help to get around this issue. default size is TRK(10,10); with z/OS 1.7, that can be user-defined - ravi. Howard Rifkind wrote:
