And for our particular case (PDSEs containing Fault Analyzer side files) it wouldn't help at all, as FA knows where to search via its own parmlib. Anyway, after (finally) setting the parms that Sam mentioned in the system where it hurts most, the 3.4-browse-time (to see the directory) decreased from about 55s to 10s for the dataset I tested with. Still, I am waiting for FA to be able to produce the side files in terse format *without* using the debug option in the compile (FA can already read tersed format), and then we'll get rid of these huge data sets!
