I don't know where you're located, but as an Angeleno I have to ask: how
far apart is 'four hours'? On a horrible traffic day our data centers might
be four hours apart even though they're in adjacent counties, but what
matters to XRC (aka global mirroring) is the network distance--which may or
not reflect how the proverbial crow would fly. That is, geographic distance
per se is irrelevant. You have to follow the photons' path if you're lucky
enough to run DWDM over fiber.
Having said that, I heartily endorse the technology. We started mirroring
DASD in the late 90's when we still had to use conventional channel
extenders. However you do it, nothing improves performance more than money
does. ;-)
