Apples and oranges. There is no reason to compare speed of IMS to DB2.
IMS is not relational database, so it works in quite different manner.
Adabas vs DB2 comparison? Well, it makes more sense.

In fact, IMS based applications tend to work faster, but AFAIK development is much easier on DB2. One can find specific examples, where DB2 is faster than IMS, or Adabas is faster than Oracle, but it is really hard to find "overall" benchmark.
BTW: Did I mention VSAM applications ?
