I'm curious about something. Does a processor use more power while its
executing instructions than it does while idle? If its running at 50%
CPU, does it use more power than at 0%, and less than at 100% busy?
Or, does it use the same power whether busy or idle.

I was just thinking about that in relation to my guitar amplifier. I'm
pretty sure that the louder I turn up my amp, the more power it takes.
I remember looking at the tubes in a bass amp, and each time a note was
struck, the tubes glowed brighter. They gradually dimmed as the volume
of the note died down. Probably doesn't compare though.
