we're in the midst of migrating our workload out from STK's VSMs to IBM's VE TS7740 (set up in a dual cluster grid). this grid is shared by several SYSPLEX.
the problem we now face is this: during the VSM days, the tapes weren't SMS-managed. if there is a need to troubleshoot a job failure in Prod LPAR, the data may be backed up from that Prod LPAR and restored to a Test LPAR for analysis. for that, a simple use of EXPDT=98000 in the restore JCL was sufficient. now with the IBM VE, each SYSPLEX has its own TCDB (the VOLCATs), and the tapes are SMS-managed. the above restore process falls foul, as the virtual volumes in the Prod LPAR are not defined to the TCDBs in the Test LPAR. what can be done to continue using the restoration process ? thanks. - ravi. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
