OpenTech's VDR will do this for you. It will copy your virtual volumes onto stacked 3590 or other media and restore the data to any other tape device including a different Virtual Tape Library, Robotic Library or sequential datasets on DASD . It can also update the Tape Management System so that the 3590 appears to be the original location of the data. All tape meta data is preserved (create job, last use date, expiration date, etc) and it supports many proprietary tape format such as HSM and DSS dumps. http://www.opentechsystems.com/vdr.php
