Any CP in the 'box' can be characterized as a z/OS CP, ZIIP, ZAAP, IFL,
or ICF (ZIIP assumes z9 box).
The price you pay for each 'type' may be different even though they are
all the same physically.
IBM wants you to use IFLs so they are cheap, same with ZIIP and ZAAP to
help you cut your 3rd party (and IBM) software costs so you don't
abandon z/OS altogether. At least that is my impression, YMMV.

We are looking at acquiring a CFL on our z9BC. The quote is $201,000 US.
That seems outrageous to me. Has anybody else gotten a CFL on a z9BC? If
so, would it be possible to know what your ball park price? How about an
IFL? Somebody, off line, said that they got one for about $50,000 US.
>From my experience on a z890, an IFL can be used to run the CF LPAR.
