Any CP in the 'box' can be characterized as a z/OS CP, ZIIP, ZAAP, IFL, or ICF (ZIIP assumes z9 box). The price you pay for each 'type' may be different even though they are all the same physically. IBM wants you to use IFLs so they are cheap, same with ZIIP and ZAAP to help you cut your 3rd party (and IBM) software costs so you don't abandon z/OS altogether. At least that is my impression, YMMV.
