I'm just wondering why your vendor believes that the workload would be
best on a UP. Is this "primary" application the only thing running on
the box? Do you have multiple CICS regions along with DB2? In that
situation I would think that more than one processor would be helpful.
Of course a 2096-S01 is a small box, and if that's all you need it's
fine. Last year we made a bigger jump that you are. We went from a
9672-X47 to a 2096-U04. We were running z/OS 1.4 at that time. Later
we converted to z/OS 1.7. We had no problems with either the hardware
upgrade or the z/OS upgrade.
