As for TPROT, it doesn't really help to determine if a page is valid, just if it is paged in. A cc=3 could be that a page fault will occur OR the page is invalid, so you still need to deal with a possible S0C4. If you are attempting to determine if a piece of storage is valid, use VSMLOC.
