Barry,

Very true, but for best results make sure as many concurrent readers as
possible are submitted at the same time, and make sure they can run at the
same velocity. Otherwise Jobs that are swapped or slowed because a lower DP
will fall too far behind the lead job and you'll end up with very little IO
reduction.
