There obviously would have to be a co-existence period where both architectures are supported. VSAM is already FBA as are all of the newer data architectures. The challenges will be spool, providing GDG like capability to the VSAM ESDS, moving PDSE read access to the Nucleus and deciding how to provide the current SYS1.NUCLEUS capability.
