Hi, It is good practice to subscribe for HIPER fix notifications from OEM vendors for the products you support. Your DB2 folks may not have paid attention to a Flash from BMC just before Christmas or may not been able to install it because of an end of year freeze. IMHO the Flash should say more strenuously failing to promptly apply the fix or shutdown the products can result in an outage to DB2 and I would expect on smaller processors especially a uniprocessor a z/OS outage.
It is worth double checking if you have the BMC DB2 Solution Suite that you have these products that your DB2 Systems programmer has the fix applied. The lack of this fix here spoiled a planned Friday afternoon off for me ☹ SQL Performance for DB2® APPTUNE for DB2 Flash! Version 6.1.00 and 3.3.00 (SQL Performance) Version 6.1.00 and 5.3.00 (APPTUNE) December 14, 2007 Tracking number QM001538587: In rare situations, possible corruption of control block chains during processing can cause an infinite loop in IBM DB2 threads during data collection For SQL Performance version 6.1.00 and APPTUNE version 6.1.00, BMC provides the following two PTFs: • BPU0375—corrects the problem that caused the infinite loop in IBM DB2 threads during data collection • BPU0396—prevents a potential S0C3 abend caused by application of BPU0375. For SQL Performance version 3.3.00 and APPTUNE 5.3.00, BMC provides a zap (SLN000015049354).
