But it should be simple enough to do using BPXBTCH. A coworker of mine was looking for basically the same thing you want to do.. but MVS to zip file. Instead of using OCOPY to get the data set in an HFS prior to zip, I showed him how we can NFS mount the MVS data set and use JAR directly - thus eliminating a step. The resulting zip file is still in an HFS which then gets FTPed to another platform. All done in a batch job. Not as flexible as the zip ISV software that can run on MVS, but FREE goes a long way. Especially for something that gets very little use.
