Just curious; not quite a belated "Friday" topic:
On a completely different system, I found some fun Java
demos. But analogues appear to exist on our z/OS system in:
/usr/lpp/java/*/demo/applets/*/exampl*.html
... (YMMV; perhaps enormously; try "find /usr/lpp/java -name applets".)
Do these actually run on z/OS? What HTTPD? What configuration? What
collateral requirements? Might the underlying applets be liberated
and run outsidt HTTP (I don't know how to do this under the other OS,
either.)

Paul,
Having just installed Java 6, you got me curious. So I go to:
/usr/lpp/java16/J6.0/demo/applets
and find, from an 'ls':
Animator Blink DitherTest GraphLayout JumpingBox
SimpleGraph TicTacToe
ArcTest CardTest DrawTest GraphicsTest
MoleculeViewer SortDemo WireFrame
BarChart Clock Fractal ImageMap NervousText
SpreadSheet
All of these are directories which seem to contain .java,
.class, .html, and support files. I copied demos/Animator/*
under my public_html directory, pointed my browser there,
and it worked! Animation, sound, everything.
I'm just using the shipped HTTPD server.
