I was reviewing some of the changes in the ARCCMD00 parmlib member and I do remember making a change several weeks back because there were too many tapes showing up in the excessivevoluimes list and after reviewing some IBM documentation in the HSM storage admin reference chapter 36 that said:
"DFSMShsm recommends a value of 4000MB for all IBM 3490 and 3590 tape cartridges." I set the SETSYS TAPESPANSIZE(4000) as recommended.
