>Will implementing PAV affect the existing data on the DASD subsystem? No.
>If no, is it applicable to both IBM and EMC DASD subsystem? Yes. >How big is the risk involved to implement this with production data? I'm not sure what you mean by risk. PAV just reduces the IOSQ time. The risk is if your application does invalid transactions, which would be the same without PAV. You just propagate your errors faster, as with any new technology. I implemented PAV in 2003, and the only issue was that we found an application design problem where IMS MPPs were writing directly to SPOOL, so we had (in some cases) 50 aliases assigned to a volume. Turning these off gave use more to assign to the 'real' problems. - Too busy driving to stop for gas! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
