  * Sysplex and GRS STAR environment *

Installations that desire to switch from GRSRNL=EXCLUDE to
standard RNLs must schedule a sysplex-wide outage in order to
  perform the migration.

GRSRNL=EXCLUDE is a special mode where GRS excludes most SYSTEMS
(global) level ENQs to SYSTEM (local) level scope.

  PROBLEM CONCLUSION:

  TEMPORARY FIX:

  COMMENTS:
This SPE contains function which provides a migration path from
a GRSRNL=EXCLUDE environment to full RNLs without requiring a
sysplex-wide outage for certain environments. It will require
that only one STAR mode system remains in the sysplex before the
  function can be used.

This function is disabled by default and a DIAGxx setting will
be required to enable it. Specifics on enabling this function
can be obtained from the IBM Washington Systems Center by
sending Nat Stevenson an email at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please consider these questions prior to contacting the
  Washington Systems Center:
    * Are you sharing any resources (DASD) outside of the sysplex?
    * Do you have a need to perform this migration without a
      sysplex-wide outage?

Extensive planning is required before making any changes to the
Resource Name Lists (RNLs) as any errors in their configuration
can lead to deadlocks or data integrity errors. Consult the
manuals of installed applications for details on how to
  configure their ENQs.

Note that once migrating to the specified RNLs, the only way to
move back to GRSRNL=EXCLUDE is a sysplex-wide outage.
Additionally note that there is no FORCE option for changing
from the specified RNLs to another set of RNLs therefore long
held resources could delay such a change indefinitely requiring
cancellation of jobs or even a sysplex-wide outage to complete.
Consult the GRS Planning Guide for more information on this
  function.
