Last year we had 5 3174s on the floor and I had to take out 4 of them. We had one that was supposed to stay hot for VM. I had to cannibalize the other 4 to get parts to make the one still run, so we thought, and it still died. We wound up patching up a rack mount version that cripples along and still supports a limited life span VM system that is too old to use the newer consoles such as ZOS and newer VMs use.
Along the same lines I had to move a 3720 three feet once and had to have IBM come resurrect it... So we old dinosaurs are supporting dinosaurs that support dinosaurs...gotta love it!
