John, John, John. You DO need a vacation, poor boy.
How could you possibly think that programming disciplines learned
over 50 years of data processing could possibly have any application in
this modern world? Documentation of installations. Heavens,
documentation of programs is no longer relevant. And user doc, hah, that
is what blogs are for. This is poppycock from gray haired relics and
talking dinosaurs.
Why, you even tried to lay out a logical "tree" structure in your
directories. How quaint. Don't you know that modern programmers get paid
on the basis of how many directories they create? Yes, it does not show
up on their pay calculations, but it DOES pay off by making the structure
virtually impossible to maintain, even for the person who created it. Why,
I almost had a riot on my hands when I even suggested that an application
have a single "root" directory and that all files of a given type (script,
HTML, etc etc) have single common directories. Open systems programmers
KNOW that this can only lead to the greatest evil of all: CHANGE CONTROL
!!! No, never. Open systems means open season.
No, you need to give up on such logical thoughts, John. It will
only affect your health and sanity. Take refuge, as I have, in my new
religion, Spaghetticodeism. We believe that when "they" die, they get to
spend the rest of eternity trying to maintain each other's apps.
