I've done a MIM to GRS Star conversion at two different shops, and I thought it was pretty easy.
Its easy IF: SYS-plex = GRS-plex = SMS-plex = TAPE-DEVICE-SHARING-plex It is NOT easy if you HAVE to share dasd beyond the boundary of a sysplex. In my case, I fixed that first, and then once the Sysplex boundary was the same as the shared-dasd boundary, then the project was easy. My opinion.
