It really depends upon the involvement of the staff at the site that I'm installing it on. If I do it myself, it typically takes a day or two to get to the first IPL, and from 2 to 4 weeks to first production IPL, depending on the mix of software that needs to be configured. If there is also a LOT of non-IBM software is involved, it can add about 25 to 50% to the time. At a site that is making a HUGE jump where I have to perform a lot of upgrades to the "other stuff" that they are using, there is really no way to tell how long and get it right. Sometimes it's very quick and sometimes (when problems arise where I might have to deal with a vendor), it can take a while longer.
If the client helps a bit I can shave off about 5 to 10% of the time.
