Tommy Assuming I'm not the only one who is puzzled by this post, please explain exactly what you mean by
> Assume the TCPIP FTP PORT is not open yet and > only SNA transmission is available for mainframe Trying to take the statements at face value I can reply that the Communications Server IP component - previously known as TCP/IP for MVS - provides an FTP server[1] and has ever since I have known the product which dates to very shortly after its birth. This is rather obvious and hardly need saying. In addition it hardly needs saying that, with the availability of the Communications Server IP component not just SNA "transmission" is available for the "mainframe" but also at least "transmission" based on protocols with IP as their networking base. What I can appreciate from this post is that you are concerned about the APPC Suite no longer being shipped with the Communications Server SNA component, VTAM, V1R9. Pending someone else coming up with better ideas, I can suggest you have two choices: 1. Continue to use the APPC Suite programs and ancillary files as you find them in your current Communications Server release. I very strongly suspect that the APPC Suite programs are truly "functionally stable". I tried to see if there were any APARs in the APAR data base relating to the APPC Suite and found none. 2. Redesign your applications which rely on the APPC Suite so that you avoid using it perhaps, since you appear to be particularly concerned about presumably AFTP, using FTP. Please post again if I have completely misunderstood what you want. Chris Mason [1] Historically one can say *two* since the original FTP server was rewritten and thus replaced.
