I can generate or manually build the JCLIN, but I still don't get a MOD entry for my exit that will eliminate the GIM44402W message.

Your MOD name matches your SRC, which is XJ01USEP, right? Therefore, thats the name you should specify as the CSECT, not ZJO1USEP. Then SMP/E will build GENASM subentries in the XJO1USEP MOD entry.
