I believe I've come across a 133 column PDS once - but all the rest have been 80 columns. Partitioned Data Sets are an oddity. Historically they gave some advantages of modern operating systems without changing what IBM had (I'm not sure which OS they came out on). Files come in all sizes, but I just haven't seen where people decide they should be bundled in a PDS except for source code, JCL, and such. I'd be interested in knowing shops that found more uses for them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
