Hi Mark and Barry, I'm sorry to take so long to reply - I think I'm on a different time zone to you (I'm in the UK) and don't work weekends normally. Plus I was stuck in meetings for most of Friday. Anyway, you are spot on with your advice and I'm really surprised that CA didn't suggest checking the options as I've had a query about this logged with them since 26th September! I will let them know what the solution is. We did have $SYSOUTC coded as X'C1'. I don't know why - it probably dates back to when ASM2 was first installed many years ago, long before I took on responsibility for it, but the output has been discarded for years. I have changed it this morning and now the output goes to the purge class as we wanted. I had a horrible feeling it was going to be something really stupid that I had overlooked, but because of the response I'd had from CA, I was convinced it was some operating system default and have spent hours looking at completely the wrong thing! Anyway, as the saying goes, all's well that ends well.
Thank you so much for having taken the time and trouble to respond and for researching the solution for me. I am really very grateful for your help and advice. It's fantastic to find a group of people that are willing to spend their time helping out a complete stranger. Thanks again and kindest regards Sally ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
