GETMAIN has never cleared storage. STORAGE OBTAIN will clear storage to hex ZEROS ONLY for a 8k or larger request, or a 4k or larger with BNDRY=PAGE. This behavior has been constant for all releases of MVS/ESA, OS/390 and z/OS I have worked with since STORAGE was introduced.
