Lizette, I've been researching the process of analyzing the cost effectiveness of getting a zIIP at my shop. From what I've seen you have to have at least a z9 (a zIIP eligible machine) before PROJECTCPU will work. In fact, this statement is in a WSC document "zIIP and zAAP Software Update". If I could attach a PDF file to this post I'd send it to you. What am I thinking. I'll send it to you off list. Here's the statement. It has to do with different scenarios as to what you're trying to accomplish.
3. No zIIP engine on z9, but want to use PROJECTCPU for estimation; then you must have the required z/OS level and DB2 V8 installed: * z/OS 1.6 or z/OS.e 1.6 plus web download and all zIIP PTFs (z/OS and DB2 V8) * z/OS 1.7 or z/OS.e 1.7 plus web download and all zIIP PTFs (z/OS and DB2 V8) * z/OS 1.8 plus all zIIP PTFs (z/OS and DB2 V8) Tom Kelman Enterprise Capacity Planner Commerce Bank of Kansas City (816) 760-7632 > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of Lizette Koehler > Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 12:54 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: z890 and Projectcpu > > > > > If I turn on the PROJECTCPU parm on a z890 - even though a z890 cannot > support a zIIP, will it still collect the data?
