We had the same question about a year ago, and the only answer we could find was two pieces of hardware .... The first box was essentially an escon/ficon converter that could emulate 3390's on SAN storage. The second box sat between the first box and the SAN storage and did the encrypt/decrypt.
The doc said it would work, so it must, but we never had to try it.
