Thank you. I will remove the tics.
However the question remains as to why the allocation worked as intended in one 
LPAR and not the other.

Dataclass routine has the following as the first Select in the routine:

SELECT
  WHEN (&ANYVOL EQ 'SYS%R%')
    DO
      SET &DATACLAS = ''
      EXIT
    END

So how did Sys9 assign dataclass = PDS?
