You CAN hook the 3584/TS3500 up to the z-box as others have mentioned.
However, the devil is in the details.  What kind of tape drives are
currently in the 3584?  IFAIK, you cannot use LTO drives in the 3584 on
the z890, you would have to purchase 3592 (TS7700, TS1120, TS1130)
drives to put in the shell.  In addition, to attach the 3584 to the
z890, you would need to invest in a tape controller.  What this is under
the covers amounts to a p520 machine that translates the Ficon or ESCON
commands into fibre-channel or SCSI commands to pass to the tape drives.
