Just go ahead and DO IT. We've been doing it for years with nary a
problem or issue. Shared Spool, aka MAS, works very well. You MIGHT need
to adjust your checkpoint reserve times, keeping them short.

Can you narrow that down a bit?
What release are you at? What version of the Operating system?
Are you currently sharing SDSF in a PLEX?
Are you sharing across Multiple Plexes? Or plan to?
What specifically are you looking for.
SDSF works fine in a MAS.
What type of environment are you currently setup with and what is it you
are going to?
