Thanks Peter. That is the difference. Until 1.10, and heard it on this list, I was not aware that the object for SYMUPDTE was distributed in SAMPLIB, so we always carried forward the old version. In my efforts to "clean house" I went with the distributed version, and ditched the old one.
My suggestion to you IBMer's is that while I understand that the use of the program is unsupported, the fact is you do distribute it. *Maybe* instead of just placing the object code in SAMPLIB, you actually wrap the sample SMPE usermod JCL around it, as documented in the example in the REDBOOK. Because, then you could add comments about the required Security profiles in there as well. Just a suggestion. As usual, Jim is fully correct. There has been no change in IEASYMUP since it was created in z/OS 1.6. When it was created, that RACF checking was present. The SYMUPDTE tool distributed by Frank Kyne prior to that did not initially have that checking. Peter Relson This e-mail transmission contains information that is confidential and may be privileged.
