TCP/IP is NOT an alternative to Token Ring. Apples and oranges.
Token Ring is not supported since z/990 or even z/800. However both:
Ethernet and Token Ring can carry both protocols: SNA and TCP/IP.
To answer the question about z10 and HMC-SE connection:
For sure it supports TCP/IP v4 and TCP/IP v6.
AFAIK it no longer supports SNA, but I'm not sure of it.

My network folks want to replace the IBM supplied Ethernet switch with a
firewall/router appliance. The business need is to access the web
server on the HMC for remote operation, and the way we did that on the
outgoing machine was to just tap into that LAN. I'd prefer we kept out
of that LAN and use the second NIC on the HMC.
