You might want to take a look at our (free) Co:Z Toolkit.
Not only can you have a batch z/OS job run a job on Linux/Unix/Windows and
return return codes, but the job that runs on the remote platform can
securely reach back into the launching job and read or write z/OS datasets
through a simple to use pipe interface.
