SAP runs extremely well on System z. (Highest QoS SAP implementation you can get, as a matter of fact.) Something called the SAP Central Instance runs on z/OS, and SAP application modules run on Linux on System z. SAP exploits zIIPs and DB2 9.
Again, I don't know why people (not here, usually) confuse hardware platforms with applications.
