Many customers who run STP do so in single-CEC configurations. One annoyance for me with such a configuration was the characteristic that if we did a Power On Reset for some reason, the STP configuration was lost and had to be reentered.
In late 2008, IBM addressed this restriction, and now it is possible to set your single-CEC STP-configured system up such that the STP configuration is retained across Power On Reset actions. However, I was UNAWARE of the little check-box you must set to enable this capability. This check box action is described in the below TechDocs document: http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/TD105103 Read this document, and check the box, if you want your single-CEC STP-enabled server to retain its STP configuration across Power On Reset actions - which might happen when you least expect it!
