Good point Terry. Vinson, Are you producing both onsite and offsite copies locally, then shipping the offsite copy to a remote location? Then use Partialtape(Markfull) and execute Recycle on a regular basis.
If the offsite copy is being produced via channel extended tape drives at the remote location then use Partialtape(Reuse). If you use Reuse and the offsite copy cannot be mounted then you get a plethora of 'Can tape nnnnnn be mounted' msgs. As the onsite copy is recycled and released the off-site copy is also scratched. Do you have CA-1 set up with an EDM statement for HSM? If so, will HSM also free up the offsite volumes so they can be reused? We're using CA-1 and have the TMSARCTV exit enabled in z/OS 1.7. Thanks.
