Dfdss is often invoking other utilities to do the job
for example it will invoke iebcopy  for partitioned load modules (non pdse)
or idcams repro for a vsam ksds or lds.
The list of what is used by dss depending on the type of dataset is
described in the admin guide while the parms are in the admin reference.
You may use another keyword : UTILMSG=YES in your jobcard in order to
visualize the messages issued by the called utility ( iebcopy or idcams
messages) 
This is very useful in case of errors.
