Michael,
Have you checked the Ficon status on HMC/SE from the Channel Problem
Determination info, also the
"Serial Link" option will show LP status from host to each dasd CU.
Once the device is online what does a DS Q,nnnn,RCD and RDC show?.. does it
work?
On the switches, I'm presuming the ISLs, Ficon and Dasd ports are all showing
the correct status.
Is all the switch domain security setup ok.. (although ISLs usually fail to
come up if this is wrong..)
What does switchshow show for the relevant ports.
also are you seeing anything in fabstateshow (or fabriclog -s)
What does you IODF info look like for the CUs.. ie the link address.. thats the
bit where you need
to get switch ID correct..

Hi,

device, channel in host.
2. Read carefully switch documentation regarding FICON and set it up
according to FICON requirements.
3. Set up ISL connection and check it up using switch management software.
4. Create IODF, use correct switch ID's (ther are *TWO* ID's per switch)
two??
BTW: Port numbers in HCD are in hex, while on the switch chassis
decimal. Another way to make a mistake. ;-)
BTW2: 5km is ok for LX type of FICON. To far for SX. Hope, you have LX
interfaces.
If he has a switch at each site then SX should be ok as it's only the
connection to switch that is
distance limited.
Cheers
Roy
